hahas... concert is over... it's somewhat saddening though, cos the seniors have now stepped down. the very thing i have been thinking about over the past 10mths (yes i have been thinking about it for that long) has finally happened. inevitable but nevertheless a saddening development.
the buildup to the concert was quite intense. the camp was an eye-opener, mostly due to the fact that wat suthi are absolutely stunning. their playing...woo. wonder if we will ever reach that standard. very very powerful. their warmups were also quite mad haha. if they do those warmups everyday it is no wonder they are so fantastic.
then on saturday...took them out to play for the whole day. sorry guys if i was so anti-social. i've always been like that, and old habits die hard. i suppose it's down to the fact that we have different ideas of what is fun. (shrugs) i grew up in a very...unique, i suppose, way. i dunno how to classify myself. so anyway i grew up this way and when u spend ur whole life doing things a certain way it isnt easy to just suddenly change. sorry again dudes.
the concert itself...lol comedy of errors sia. first half was SO -.- glenn, liangyun, brandon and I were just laughing like idiots at ourselves in the dressing room after the first half. legends and heroes the 1st trumpets didnt come in where we should've, and at the ending there was suddenly no sound frm brandon and glenn and i was just chionging and hoping that they would come in soon cos my lips were going nuts already. then howl's moving was alright, but at the end the last holding note the trumpets all took turns going off before Mr Tan finally cut. lol... i think there were many more stupid errors like this but those few struck me the most. then wat suthi siasway us with their playing, damn powerful sia. lol. liangyun was so 'jealous' he turned off the speaker in our dressing rm. lolololol. so we just relaxed till we had to go on for combined band performance. it was pretty cool, we sounded good, if only cos we were playing alongside them. lol.
then, the encore. rocked, really rocked. we played it once, then repeated to sign. this was where we went nuts. the whole section was like, 'stand? u want to stand or not? standing?' LMAO. in the end i look at jun xian, he look at me, both willing the other to stand. in the end i just shot up and jun xian followed and consequently the whole trumpet section. lololololololololol.
after we finished carribean variations, the wat suthi ppl started playing a thai pop song. i really like it, want to learn how to play. it rocks man. we didnt know how to play so just stand up and dance loh. lol. crazy sia lol. at least we enjoyed ourselves lol...
anyway, just to end off, i wanna say i'm sorry to all members of the trumpet section, for being so damn anti-social. it's just difficult for me. u all know i'm quite stupid one la right, as in my demeanour. i'm just not good around unfamiliar faces. i'm highly approachable, but i dun do the approaching, u know what i mean? oh well. sorry again.
seniors are gone...just like that. gd luck for ur o lvls, glenn (the man who set me on track to playing my trumpet), liangyun (the man who has always been a great friend and senior and who always has a joke or 2) and yu qing (the wonderwoman who has done everything for the section and the band). i'll miss u all, and plz dun worry(esp qing) about the section. i will do everything in my power to keep it strong forever.
